Leonard Wells Volk, noted sculptor of the mid to late Nineteenth Century. He helped to establish the Chicago Academy of Design, precursor to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Volk is well known for creating one of the two life masks of Abraham Lincoln (see below). He created a bronze bust from the mask in 1860, it resides El Paso Museum of Art.
