Museum of Funeral Customs
Springfield, Illinois
Opened by the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, it contains a well documented, fairly large collection of historically valuable items regarding the American funeral and mourning customs, funerary art and practice.
Sadly, the museum closed in March 2009 due to poor attendance and inadequate handling of the museum's trust fund. The contents of the collection were transferred to the Kibbe Hancock Heritage Museum in Carthage, Illinois in February of 2011.
