Footnotes to the The Legend of Sleepy Hollow are found everywhere. The Horseman's Ride goes directly through the winding paths of the cemetery. The Van Tassels, who were immortalized fictionally in the book, lie here, as well as Washington Irving and other literary giants, such as Nathaniel Hawthorne, Louisa May Alcott and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
