Wreck of the Vernon
Buried here are the bodies of eight crewmembers of the Steamer Vernon, which sunk off Two Rivers in a violent storm of Oct. 28-29, 1887. Forty-four
persons were aboard the vessel. Only one, a stoker, survived. He suffered mental impairment and was commited to a mental hospital until he died.
